Who is Colm Mulcahy?

Colm Mulcahy is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where he taught from 1988 to 2020. He is also an adjunct professor at the South East Technological University in Waterford, Ireland. His interests include algebra, number theory, geometry, and mathematical cartomagy.

For the past two decades, he has blogged for the Mathematical Association of America, The Huffington Post, Scientific American, and (aperiodically) for The Aperiodical. His puzzles and creations have appeared in Numberphile, the New York Times and The Guardian.

He serves on the Advisory Board of the Museum of Mathematics in New York and chairs Gathering 4 Gardner, an organization that promotes the legacy and spirit of pioneering recreational mathematics writer Martin Gardner. He is also the creator and curator of Annals of Irish Mathematics and Mathematics.
